A peer reviewed article in the proceedings of the National Academy of Science of the USA uses forceful language to highlight that biodiversity of ecosystems are being severely eroded. This is happening even with species of “low concern” with population sizes and ranges shrinking as non-sustainable human consumption patterns place stress on available resources and other species on the planet. This impact on ecosystems in turn adversely impacts on human civilisation.
